Annual salary

Take-Home Pay Calculator

This take-home pay calculator starts from a yearly salary, or from a monthly amount multiplied by 12. It estimates net pay for the year and then divides that figure across the pay frequency you select so you can see one check.

Salary

Start with a sample if you want to see a result first. You can change every number afterward. The estimate updates as you type.

Enter the salary before taxes, in U.S. dollars.
The calculator multiplies this percentage. It does not apply IRS withholding tables.
Enter the yearly traditional 401(k)-style amount. It lowers the income-tax base and does not lower FICA here.

Estimated take-home

How the calculator figures the estimate

If you choose an annual salary, that number is annual gross pay. If you choose a monthly salary, annual gross pay is the monthly amount multiplied by 12. FICA for 2026 is Social Security at 6.2% up to $184,500, Medicare at 1.45% of all wages, and Additional Medicare Tax at 0.9% above $200,000.

Federal and state income tax are the percentages you enter, multiplied by annual gross pay minus the yearly pre-tax amount. Estimated take-home for the year is annual gross minus that pre-tax amount, minus FICA, minus those income-tax figures. One paycheck is that yearly net divided by 52, 26, 24, or 12.

    Common questions

When should I use this page instead of the main paycheck calculator?

Use this page when you already think in yearly or monthly salary and want the per-check split as a second step. The paycheck calculator is the same model if you prefer to start from a single check.

What is the difference between biweekly and semimonthly on a salary?

The yearly take-home does not change when you switch frequency. Biweekly divides the year into 26 checks. Semimonthly divides it into 24. Semimonthly checks are larger because there are fewer of them.

Why is this not my pay stub?

A stub uses withholding tables, a W-4, and benefits. This estimate uses published FICA rates and the income-tax percentages you type.

What is FICA versus income tax on a salary?

FICA is Social Security and Medicare computed from 2026 publications. Income tax here is only the federal and optional state percentages you enter.

Does a monthly salary of $4,000 become $48,000?

Yes. The monthly option multiplies by 12. It does not add a thirteenth check or a bonus.
